Introduction
There are several opportunities to meet up either weekly, monthly or annually to enjoy each other's company.
Weekly cafe gatherings hosted by Revd Elaine:
COMMUNITY SPACE
A place to meet, eat, drink and chat. A warm space and so much more!
Every Friday morning, from 9:30am to noon, around 50 people gather at St. Petroc’s Parish Centre (opposite St. Petroc's Church) for friendship, a free breakfast, and free meals to take away.
One of our Parish Nurses is available for private consultation most weeks.
Originally launched as a ‘Warm Space’ in October 2022, it offers more than just food. Over time, the group has explored meaningful themes such as Remembrance, Christmas, and Holy Week, with Revd Elaine always available to chat about faith and offer prayer.
A variety of local organisations regularly visit, including:
-
The Grace Project, providing quality pre-loved children’s clothing
-
St. Petroc’s Homeless Society
-
WAVY Smile
-
Community Energy Plus
-
Healthy Cornwall
-
Social Prescribers
Weigh and Pray, launched in July 2025, is a compassionate initiative held alongside Community Space from 11am. Following a private consultation, a volunteer offers to say a prayer with the attendee, combining spiritual support with practical encouragement on their health journey.
Additionally, Community Space serves as a digital hub, providing free access to laptops and Wi-Fi, helping to bridge the digital divide and offer practical support to those who need it.

COMMUNITY CUPPA
A weekly event for meeting up with others and even trying your hand at some craft activities.
When refurbishment work began at the Shire House Suite, Bodmin Town Council needed a new venue for their “Warm Space” initiative—and Community Cuppa was born.
Now held every Thursday from 10am to 4pm in St. Petroc’s Church, Community Cuppa offers a warm and welcoming space where everyone is invited to connect over a cuppa. Guests can enjoy a selection of free hot drinks, cakes, fruit, soup, and sandwiches.
Some regulars come for the crafts, others for the conversation—but all are welcomed with kindness and hospitality. The gathering often features guest singers and speakers, and thoughtful themes for discussion and art, such as the Stations of the Cross, are explored throughout the year.
Community organisations regularly attend, including:
-
Dentaid, offering free dental care for vulnerable individuals
-
Health for Homeless
-
ASDA’s Community Champion, linking in with local initiatives.
Whether you’re looking to drop in for a quick chat or stay all day, Community Cuppa is a wonderful place to meet new people, share stories, and enjoy the warmth of community.

Monthly gatherings hosted by Revd Elaine:
COMMUNITY C
Community C for Coffee, Cake, Crumpets, Crafts… and Connection!
Launched in September 2024, Community C is a free monthly drop-in designed to offer a warm, friendly, and supportive space for people to meet others and feel part of the local community.
Held on the first Wednesday of each month, from 10am to noon, at St. Mary’s Parish Centre, the group brings people together for all the Cs!
Bodmin Way’s Community Health and Wellbeing Workers and Parish Nurses are also on hand during each session, offering support and signposting to other local services.
Everyone is welcome—whether you're popping in for a quick cuppa or staying for the full session. It’s a great opportunity to enjoy good conversation, make new connections, and feel part of something positive in the community. New members are always warmly welcomed—just drop in!

COMMUNITY COOK UP
Cooking Up Connections!
Drawing on her experience at Bodmin College, Revd Elaine teamed up with Beth Woolley and many others to launch Community Cook Up in October 2023. This monthly, hands-on cooking session invites local residents to come together at St. Petroc’s Parish Centre to share the joy of preparing and enjoying meals.

Gatherings throughout the year hosted by Revd Elaine:
Moments of Blessing
Celebrating Community and Joy
Moments of Blessing is a heartwarming programme running throughout the year, creating special opportunities for community connection, reflection, and celebration. Whether it’s handing out chocolate eggs while families write heartfelt prayers to hang on the Easter Prayer Tree, or sharing laughter and sunshine during summer fun in the park, each moment offers a chance to come together, celebrate, and be blessed.
The Community Garden project began to take root in 2022, thanks to the dedication of several green-fingered friends of Revd Elaine. Together, they worked hard to clear and transform areas around St. Petroc’s Church, creating a garden space for everyone to enjoy. Members of the community are warmly invited to get involved in its ongoing maintenance and development.
Easter Eggstravaganza takes place on the Saturday before Easter Sunday at St. Petroc’s Church. Everyone is invited to this free event, full of free eggs, food and fun!
